Here are just four of our customer’s stories. One of the two largest credit card companies in the world runs 13,000 transactions per second per processor using tableBASE-powered applications. That’s actual transactions—transactions that include an average of 40 lookups per transaction. That’s 520,000 lookups per second, or 31 million per minute. Using tableBASE, a large east-coast outsourcing business reduced its batch processing time from 26 hours to 20 minutes. Using tableBASE, a large New York brokerage house reduced its nightly batch processing time from 8 hours to a single hour. A major player in the insurance sector reduced its application maintenance by a factor of more than 50—by consolidating 50 complex applications into a single, smaller, more efficient application. Applications designed years ago can consume enormous amounts of I/O, CPU, real memory, and cache memory resources. Well-designed originally, when they are used now by many online regions simultaneously, the resource consumption can increase linearly. tableBASE is the best-in-class product for mainframe resource consumption reduction. If some or all of your mission-critical applications are I/O and CPU intensive, tableBASE can make a big difference. One of the largest bank card issuers in the USA was able to save significantly on I/O usage, and related CPU usage, and now performs 96 billion lookup transactions in 2 hours of processing.

Decrease Maintenance Costs

Application maintenance costs are increasing. Your in-house developed applications cost dearly to develop initially. Since then, ongoing maintenance, regular code changes, and testing ensure that you never stop paying for it. With all business rules externalized into in-memory tables, the application complexity is dramatically reduced. This simplification allows for application consolidation, greatly reducing the resources needed for application maintenance. One of the biggest personal and business insurance providers in the US was able to use tableBASE to consolidate 50 applications into a single simplified application. The new application is faster and more efficient, rules logic is externalized into in-memory tables, allowing them to update rules quickly, and dramatically reduce their application maintenance effort. At face value, it may seem that the reduction in maintenance effort is 50:1; but it is far better than that. With rules externalized, the application rarely, if ever, needs to be changed.
